On the occasion of World Environment Day, Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar organised a Vanamahotsav (Tree Plantation Festival) on 5 June 2026 in collaboration with the local Forest Department. As part of this initiative, 250 saplings of Teak were planted within the Mission premises, symbolising the Order’s enduring commitment to environmental stewardship and the harmonious relationship between humanity and nature.

Prior to the plantation drive, a brief meeting was convened on the premises. Shri Diwang Lowang, Range Forest Officer, welcomed the gathering and set the tone for the occasion. Shri Bajum Taba, Divisional Forest Officer, then addressed the assembly, underscoring the significance of World Environment Day and the urgent need for collective action in preserving forest resources. Shri Wanghey Lowang, Forest Officer, Deomali, along with scores of other forest officials, graced the occasion with their presence.

Staff members of the Mission and students of Classes IX, X, XI, and XII participated actively in the tree plantation activity. Light refreshments were served to all those present at the conclusion of the event.

Drawing and Painting Activity on World Environment Day

In conjunction with the Vanamahotsav, students of Classes X, XI, and XII engaged in a Drawing and Painting Activity centred on the theme of environmental awareness. Through their artwork, the students conveyed meaningful messages on the importance of caring for the natural world and the need for individual responsibility in its protection. The works of art served as a visual affirmation of the Mission’s ethos of conscious and sustained effort towards a more sustainable future.

The initiative sought to inspire awareness among the younger generation and encourage them to contribute positively to environmental conservation in their daily live

On 11 November 2025, after a challenging five-hour journey through the Patkai ranges along the India–Myanmar border, the relief team comprising two monastic members, staff, and students of Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar, reached Kamhua Noknu village in the Pongchau Circle of Longding district.

As part of its ongoing Winter Relief Programme, the institution, in association with Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, distributed 666 blankets among 1,979 beneficiaries from 300 families, extending much-needed support to the communities residing in these remote border areas at the onset of winter.

In a gesture of gratitude, the villagers gifted vegetables such as pumpkin, squash, bottle gourd and other gourds, ginger, and local greens for the tribal boys residing in the institution.

It is through the benevolent support of the devotees and well-wishers of the Ramakrishna Mission that such service activities are being carried out in this remote corner of Mother India.

The Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar successfully carried out a winter relief program in the remote regions of Arunachal Pradesh from December 4 to 20, 2024. 500 blankets and 500 fleece jackets were distributed to those in need across the Tirap and Changlang districts.

The relief efforts reached several villages, including Moktwa 1, Moktwa 2, Viveknagar, Mopaya, Jumdang, and 2 no. Coffee Board Villages in Tirap district. In Changlang district, the program extended to Yanman, Makantong 1, Makantong 2, Longkey, Khimiyong, Waphang, Thamlom, and Longsang under the Khimiyong block.

This initiative aimed to mitigate the hardships faced by local communities during the harsh winter months. By providing warm clothing, the program sought to improve the well-being and comfort of residents in these remote and often underserved areas.
