The school was started in 1971-72 on the lines of the ancient gurukula system of India. Here students live under the care & guidance of dedicated monks.
The foundation stone of the secondary hostel was laid by Sri K. A. A. Raja, Advisor to the Governor of Assam. on 3 October 1971. And on 3 March 1972 Sri B. K. Nehru, Governor of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya, inaugurated the hostel.
The Higher Secondary Hostel was inaugurated on 27 March 1987 by R. D. Pradhan, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
At present there are 3 separate hostel buildings for the Primary, Secondary, and Higher secondary students.
