The 133rd Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Address was celebrated with devotion and grandeur at the Ramakrishna Mission campus, Narottam Nagar, on Friday, 11 September 2026. Observed as Universal Brotherhood Day, the programme highlighted both spiritual inspiration and infrastructural progress.
The programme was presided over by Revered Swami Jnanalokanandaji Maharaj, Trustee of Ramakrishna Math and Secretary of Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre, Kolkata.
Shri Wangki Lowang, Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Forest, Geology, Mining & DoTCL, and Shri Mama Natung, Hon’ble Minister for Home & Inter-State Border Affairs, Public Health Engineering and Water Supply, and Department of Indigenous Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, addressed the gathering. Both leaders stressed the importance of acceptance and tolerance as essential values for peace and prosperity.
Infrastructure Milestones
Two major initiatives were undertaken as part of the celebration:
Teaching Staff Quarters: The foundation stone for 24 proposed units was laid at Gurupally, strengthening residential facilities for teachers and supporting the Mission’s educational activities.
Pressure Water Filtration Plant: Inaugurated at the Mission campus, this facility will provide safe, filtered drinking water for students and the campus community.
Later, the dignitaries also visited Abhedananda Bhavan, the newly constructed hostel building, marking another step in the Mission’s holistic development.
